Wandering around Barcelona, there are a plethora of restaurants and places to pick up something quick. The key is knowing the right places! Here are some resident-approved cheap eats around the centre of Barcelona.

.

Pizza Circus for late night eats

If you ever find yourself running around Raval after a night at 33/45 or anywhere on Joaquin Costa, Pizza Circus serves up some huge slices for just a couple euros. There are two locations within walking distance of each other.

Red Ant Noodle Bar for Asian food

A restaurant in a quiet part of the Born neighbourhood, Red Ant has a fairly simple menu offering noodles, rice and ramen. They also have a good selection of craft beers. Perfect if you’re looking for uncomplicated, inexpensive and delicious!

La Fábrica for empanadas

Argentinian empanadas, anyone? This is the place if you’re looking for something cheap, quick and easy to take away. They have a variety of different fillings, with or without meat. They are on the small side, so if you’re very hungry, you’ll have to order at least 3 or 4. Our favourites? The classic cheese and onion, and spicy tuna. Yummy!

Madame Ramen for Asian fusion

This bright-lit place in the Raval neighbourhood mixes Asian with Mediterranean cuisine. You can find ramen, gyoza, poke bowls and even pulpo (octopus)! While the price is not the cheapest you’ll find in this neighbourhood, the food is super tasty and good quality.

Cosmo Cafe for cakes and sandwiches

This cute cafe doubles as a gallery space, so you’ll find some interesting pieces decorating the walls. They focus on slow food (as opposed to fast food) and serve delectable sandwiches on soft bread with fresh ingredients. You’ll have to give their cakes a try too!

Maoz for falafel and salad

Maoz is a great place for a cheap, Middle-Eastern veggie plate. Get a serving of falafel at the counter and serve yourself from the salad bar. It’s in the perfect location right off la Rambla, fresh and cheap!

Sports Bar for a pizza slice

Two pizza spots on the same list? Isn’t that what cheap eating is all about? This tiny spot on Carrer Ample has a wood burning stove and sells good quality pizzaz, calzones and even pasta at inexpensive prices. Don’t let the name or the place fool you.

La Xampanyeria for tapas and cava

Expect this place to be full any time you go. This little bar right near the big post office on Via Laietana is famous for its cheap cava, sandwiches, cheeses and chorizo. You may have to elbow your way up to the counter to get some service, but it’s well worth it for the atmosphere alone. You’ll be expected to order something small to eat if you plan only on drinking.

Bo de B for a fat sandwich

You’re lucky if you arrive at Bo de B when there is no line. Because of its small size, they don’t allow too many people inside at once. This is the place for a stacked, sub-style sandwich. You can choose from a variety of toppings and they will cook the chicken filling to order. A sub costs around 5€.

König for a casual hamburger

This place may look extra fancy, but it’s actually a “Girona-based family company”. The decor is perfectly sleek and minimal and both locations in Barcelona have small terraces with outdoor seating. It’s a good spot for a casual hamburger and beer after the beach, or for a quick cheap bite to eat. Most of the burgers are priced under 5€ and they have some very tasty bravas!
