Our Long-term Spanish courses are a great option if you want to learn Spanish and enjoy living in Barcelona for a longer period of time. These courses meet the requirements to apply for a student visa in Spain. You’ll study 20 hours of Spanish each week and cover up to 6 levels of the CASA program. Classes are 4 hours each day, Monday through Friday, in the morning or in the afternoon. Class is divided into two blocks, one teacher for each half, with a small break in the middle. This gives you time to cover all aspects of Spanish language learning each day: speaking, reading, writing, and listening. You’ll also have the option to include the DELE exam preparation course in packages from 36 weeks and more.

If you will be applying for a student visa application with your course at Speakeasy we will help you with the entire visa application process. All long-term course packages include all necessary application documents that you will need from the school. We have years of experience helping non-EU citizens to obtain their long-term student visas. We know it can be quite daunting and complex but you can take comfort in the fact that we will be there for you each step of the way.
Speakeasy is happy to offer you a selection of accommodation types if you need help finding a home away from home during your stay in Barcelona. Options include a room in a shared private apartment, host family, full private apartment or a room in a student residence. Most of our apartments, families and residences are located within 20 minutes from the school and the city center by public transport.
In addition to the comfort of knowing that you will be fully covered throughout your stay in Spain, many student visas require students to be covered with comprehensive medical insurance. If you plan to stay in Spain for more than 180 days and you need a long-term student visa (type D), you must have insurance with full coverage of medical services in Spain.
I am new at the school, but I can already say that I was surprised with the quality from my reception with Yasmin (attentive and friendly!), from teachers Bea and Txemi (which are great and the classes are flying by) and the events by Anna (always friendly and concerned to always promote the best). I really recommend Speakeasy as the best option in Barcelona!
- Do I have to pay before the course starts?
You must pay in advance for the weeks you would like to reserve your spot in. The number of weeks you book is entirely up to you.
- Does living with a host family include meals?
You have the option to choose a stay with no meals, with breakfast only or with half board (breakfast and dinner).
- What is the NIE number and how can I get it?
The NIE number is your identification number here in Spain and you can get it from the local police station. The reception issues an assistance document for further steps.
