Located directly on La Rambla, the Hotel 1989’s rooftop terrace offers a full 360º view from right in the centre of the city. This swanky rooftop has a nice setup with a pool, lounging area, good food and well-crafted cocktails. This is one of our favourite places to bring guests as it’s one of the bars in Barcelona that has it all!

l’Antic Teatre

A giant fig tree stands in the courtyard of the Bar de l’Antic Teatre. This space was once an old theatre and has been repurposed perfectly to fit in with El Borne’s bohemian style. A favourite of locals and tourists alike, it’s certainly another one of the relaxed garden bars in Barcelona. It’s perfect for accommodating larger groups as the tables and chairs are always moving around.

Hotel Pulitzer

Though the rooftop of the Pulitzer Hotel doesn’t offer stunning views, its chic style and layout make it worth visiting. Sip on fruity cocktails, vermouth or crisp wine and find a shady corner. Since the area is quite small, the setting is intimate and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped out of the city for a minute and onto someone’s private terrace.

Bar Jardí

Another gem hidden away on one of the busiest shopping streets in Barcelona, Bar Jardí has its own “secret” entrance. Look for the camel on Portaferrissa, pass through the collection of shops and head up the stairs to enter this secret oasis. You’ll find around 15 tables within a residential courtyard. The vibe here is very casual and laid-back; you’ll have to fetch your own drinks and the bar is cash only. This is a great place to have some cheap drinks or snacks and escape the hustle and bustle of the city during the daytime.

Another rooftop located at the top of a hotel, this terrace in Raval is different in that it offers a complete 360º view of Barcelona. If you’re looking to capture a photo, take a walk around the circular terrace and pick out any one of the spectacular sights in Barcelona. This is one of our go-to bars for watching the sun go down.

El Jardí

If you want a peaceful place to take a break in a neighbourhood that doesn’t stop moving, El Jardí is it. Located within the gardens of the old Hospital de la Santa Creu and next to the Biblioteca de Catalunya, you’ll not only indulge your thirst and hunger but your cultural palate as well. The medieval walls harbour an excellent restaurant and because it is in such close proximity to the Boquería Market, you can rest assured the food is fresh and in season.
Carrer de l’Hospital, 56. €€

We hope that the next time you are trying to decide where to take a guest or where to retreat with a friend, you’ll remember one of our suggestions! What are your favourite garden and rooftop terraces in Barcelona?
